Upton 2013…

It didn’t rain!!

And the dancing was good once we’d got started, the sun shone and overall a jolly good time was had by all…

Legs and feet are weary after 2 days hard dancing, but after a good practice last night we are raring to go for our local festival in Holmfirth next weekend.

Check out Holmfirth Festival of Folk and come along and see us and all the other amazing artists and dancers – should be another fantastic weekend…

Upton here we come…

It’s finally arrived! We are off to Upton this weekend. The weather forecast looks favourable and some of us are VERY excited!

Here’s hoping for a brilliant weekend – it should be lots of fun.

This is what all those hours of practice are for, let’s hope we put on a good show and get invited back next year. Upton Folk Festival is definitely a must for our dance out calendar.

See you down there…

Countdown to Upton…

The countdown has begun – only 1 more practice to Upton.

Some of the more excitable members of the side had a planning meeting after practice last night, in the pub, obviously! It was decided that we needed a tent, some wine and a bucket… We reckon we can manage ok as long as we don’t forget those 3 items.

Kit and clogs would be a bonus too!

If anyone is in the vicinity of Upton-Upon-Severn during the weekend of 3rd-6th May, it would be great to see you! There is going to be a fantastic number of sides there this year, including our friends from up’t road, Thieving Magpie and our friends from over t’hill, Wrigley Head Morris.

See you there!

Rhubarb Festival…

What a good do we had! Dancing with Rhubarb Tarts, Briggate, Leeds Morris Men, Wayzgoose, Thieving Magpie and Hornbeam Molly.

The weather was a little inclement (it snowed!) but the Rhubarb ale warmed up the parts that dancing couldn’t reach!

A great start to the 2013 dance out season. :)

It’s Tuesday…

And weather permitting that means practice night! More Failsworth learning to be done in preparation for the Failsworth workshop on Saturday – legs and arms are still doing their own random things at the moment but we are making some progress! Bring it on… :-)

Dance outs for 2013…

We have started to accept some of the many invites we have had to dance next year – you can find the updated list here.

More will be added once we get enough people signed up and are able to accept, so please put your name down if you can make it! :)

Accepted so far are: the Rhubarb Festival in Wakefield in February, Holmfirth Festival of Folk and Southwell Folk Festival – lets hope for sunny weather this year!

Open evenings…

The moment you have all been waiting for! Come and have a go – you know you want to!

Slubbing Billy’s are holding 2 (yes, 2!) open evenings on Tuesday 4th and Tuesday 11th December at Slaithwaite Community Centre – 8.30pm.

If you are over 16 years of age, willing to have a dance, laugh and generally have a great time, come and give us a go! Or come and chat to us in The Commercial afterwards.
